Eterično ulje grejpa podiže raspoloženje, pomaže uklanjaju negativnih misli, podržava odvikavanje od ovisnosti, smanjuje stres, antidepresiv je. Brzim pokretima nanjeti na područje koje ćete brijati, dok se dobro ne zapjeni i dok se sastojci ne upiju u kožu i tada započnite postupak brijanja.

Mokro brijanje britvom jedan je od najstarijih načina uklanjanja neželjenih dlačica (s bilo kojeg dijela tijela).

Danas se na tržištu nudi ši­rok raspon krema i pjena za brijanje kako za muškarce tako i za žene. Te kreme i pjene izgledaju privlačno, ugodne su, a neke čak i lijepo mi­rišu. No, one mogu sadržavati neke ne tako ugodne sastojke, na prim­jer: voda, palmitinska kiselina, trietanolamin, lauret-23, izobutan, aloe barba-densis, paraffinum liquidum, stearilni alkohol, cetilni alkohol, cetil dimetikon kopoliol, propan, lauramid DEA, parfem, PEG-150 distearat, BHT, imidazo-lidinil urea, metilparaben, propilparaben, kvaternij-15.

Trietanolamin (TEA) i lauramid DEA su deterdženti/surfaktanti, koji mogu izazvati nadraženost kože. Što još više zabrinjava, ka­da se pomiješaju s PEG spojevima koji mogu osloboditi formal-dehid (vidi u nastavku), tada mogu sadržavati kancerogene nitrozamine.

PEG-150 distearat. PEG spojevi dobivaju se od polietilen glikola. Upotrebljavaju se kao stabilizatori, humektanti i sredstva za vlaženje. Što je manje tih spojeva, to je proizvod više tekuć. PEG spojevi su sredstva koja daju formaldehid, pa ih se ne bi smjelo upotrebljavati u proizvodima koji sadrže DEA, MEA ili TEA. PEG spojevi također mogu sadržavati kancerogeni 1,4-dioksan. Hu­mektanti privlače vodu iz izvora koji njome najviše obiluju. U su­him atmosferskim prilikama proizvodi koji ostaju na koži, a sadrže PEG spojeve privući će vlagu iz kože.

BHT i imidazolidinil urea su konzervansi. BHT, ili butilirani hidroksitoulen, je sintetički antioksidans koji može uzrokovati alergijske reakcije. Imidazolidinil urea je najčešće korišten konzervans nakon skupine parabena. Može osloboditi formaldehid u proiz­vodu i najopasniji je kada se upotrebljava zajedno s etanolaminima (DEA, MEA, TEA). Također može prouzročiti alergijske reak­cije i povišenu osjetljivost.

Parabeni ili parahidroksibenzoični kiseli esteri su također sinte­tički konzervansi. Lako se upijaju i mogu izazvati nadraženost kože. Također djeluju kao oponašatelji estrogena. Poredani od najviše do najmanje estrogenog, skupina parabena uključuje sljedeće spojeve: butilparaben, propilparaben, etilparaben, me­tilparaben.

Kvaternij-15 je regenerator i konzervans koji može nadražiti kožu. Riječ je također o kemikaliji od koje može nastati formal­dehid te koja otpušta nitrozamine kada se upotrebljava s DEA i TEA spojevima.

Paraffinum liquidum je tekući parafin, nusproizvod rafiniranja nafte. U kremi za brijanje upotrebljava se kao lubrikant. Tekući parafin može uzrokovah nadraženost kože, a postoje dokazi da bi mogao biti kancerogen te da može povećati fotosenzitivnost kože. Izobutan i propan su propelanti. Neurotoksični su (oštećuju sre­dišnji živčani sustav) u visokim koncentracijama. Također prido­nose pojavi globalnog zagrijavanja.

Stearilni alkohol se često upotrebljava kao lubrikant kako bi olakšao prianjanje proizvoda uz kožu. Čini se da nije toksičan, ali može uzrokovati blagu nadraženost kože.

Palmitinska kiselina je masna kiselina koja se dodaje kao surfaktant te za omekšavanje kože. Cetil dimetikon kopoliol je derivat silikona koji se upotrebljava za regeneraciju i zaštitu kože. Ne smatra ga se toksičnim.

Lauret-23. Lauret spojevi su emulgatori. Lauret-23 može sadrža­vati kancerogeni 1,4-dioksan. Aloe barbadensis. Ekstrakti aloja dodaju se kako bi lice bilo glade. Mnoge pjene za brijanje upotrebljavaju biljne ekstrakte. Oni su općenito netoksični, ali mogu uzrokovati alergijske reakcije i po­višenu osjetljivost kod nekih osoba. Proizvođači nisu naveli parfem koji se nalazi u proizvodu iz gor­njeg primjera, iako je imao snažan miris. Većina krema za brijanje sadržava mirise, a neke sadrže i potpuno nepotrebne boje koje proizvod čine toksičnijim.

VAŽNO !!!!! Mokro brijanje trebalo bi biti mokro brijanje. Ako dobro navlaži­te dlačice prije samog brijanja, trebat će vam manje kreme ili pjene. Moderne kreme za brijanje pune su lubrikanata, jer mnogi muškarci i žene izbjegavaju bitan dio, a to je vlaženje kože. Osim toga: Upotrebljavajte sapun za brijanje. Međutim, njime ćete moći iz­bjeći probleme vezane uz otapala i propelante koji se nalaze u pjenama za brijanje. Upotrijebite četkicu kako biste uklonili višak pjene, osim ako nemate vrlo suhu kožu. Četkica za brijanje može nadražiti suhu kožu, stoga prije nanošenja pjene na lice najprije njome nasapunajte ruke.

Wet shaving that involves the use of a safety razor is one of the oldest methods of removing unwanted hair (from any part of the body). 

Today's market offers a variety of shaving creams and foams both for men and women. These creams and foams look attractive, they are agreeable to the skin, and some of them even smell nice. However they can contain not so agreeable ingredients, such as: water, palmitic acid, triethanolamine, laureth-23, isobutane, aloe barbadensis, paraffin wax, stearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, cetyl dimethicone copolyol, propane, lauramide DEA, perfume, PEG-150 distearate, BHT, imidazolidinyl urea, methylparaben, propylparaben, quaternium-15. This ingredients list is taken from a typical shaving product. 

Triethanolamine (TEA) and lauramide DEA are detergents/surfactants, that can cause skin irritation. Even more worrying is their mixing with PEG compounds that can release formaldehyde (scroll down for further information), which then may catalyze the formation of carcinogenic nitrosamine. 

PEG-150 distearate. PEG compounds are derived from polyethylene glycol. They are used as stabilizers, humectants and emollients. The lower the PEG number the more liquid the product. PEG compounds oxidize easily in contact with air and can then form formaldehyde, so they mustn't be used in products that contain DEA, MEA or TEA. Depending on manufacturing processes, PEG compounds may be contaminated with the carcinogen 1,4-dioxane. Humectants absorb water from the environment, but under conditions of low humidity, they also draw water from the deeper layers of the skin. This is why appling products that contain PEG compounds to the skin can actually leave the skin dryer. 

BHT and imidazolidinyl urea are preservatives. BHT, or butylated hydroxytoluene, is a synthetic antioxidant that can cause allergic reactions and increased sensitivity. Imidazolidinyl urea is, aside from parabens, the most widely used preservative. It can release formaldehyde into a product and it is most dangerous when used together with ethanolamines (DEA, MEA, TEA). 

Parabens or para-hydroxybenzoic acid esters are also synthetic preservatives. They are easily absorbed and can cause skin irritation. They also have the ability to partially mimic estrogen.

The estrogenic activity of parabens increases with the length of the alkyl group. Ranged from the strongest estrogenic activity to the weakest, parabens include following compounds: butylparaben, propylparaben, ethylparaben, methylparaben. 

Quaternium-15 is a preservative and an allergen that can irritate the skin. It's a chemical that can release formaldehyde and nitrosamines when used with DEA and TEA compounds. 

Paraffin wax is liquid paraffin, a by-product of the petroleum refining process. It is used as a lubricant in shaving creams. Liquid paraffin can cause skin irritation, and there is evidence that it might be carcinogenic and increase skin photosensitivity. Isobutane and propane are propellants. They are neurotoxic (they cause damage to the central nervous system) in high concentrations. They also contribute to the phenomenon of global warming. 

Stearyl alcohol is often used as a lubricant to help products adhere better to the skin. It appears to be nontoxic, however it can cause mild skin irritation. 

Palmitic acid is a fatty acid that is used as a surfactant. It is also added to products to soften the skin. Cetyl dimethicone copolyol is a silicone derivative that is used for skin regeneration and protection. It is considered nontoxic. 

Laureth-23. Laureth compounds are emulsifiers. Laureth-23 may contain the carcinogen 1,4-dioxane. 

Aloe barbadensis. Aloe extracts are added to make your skin smooth. Many shaving foams contain herbal extracts. In general, they are nontoxic, however they can cause allergic reactions and increased sensitivity in some people. The manufacturer of our exemplary shaving product didn't put perfume on the ingredient list, even though it has a strong smell. Most shaving creams contain perfume, and some even unnecessary colour additives, that only make the product more toxic. 

IMPORTANT !!!!! Wet shaving should be exactly that – wet. And, if you thoroughly wet the unwanted hairs before shaving, you will use less cream or foam. Modern shaving creams are full of lubricants because most men and women tend to avoid one essential step, which is wetting their skin first. Also: use shaving soap to avoid problems related to solvents and propellants, that is, unless you suffer from very dry skin. The shaving brush may irritate dry skin so before applying foam to your face use it to soap up your hands first.
